"After I finished my military service I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to study. I knew that I wanted to study something meaningful that would help me deal with the difficult and complex moral questions that arise within the context of living in Israel, especially the questions that arose for me while reflecting on my military service. Ultimately I decided to begin my BA studies double majoring in Middle Eastern Studies and Philosophy. I realized that in order to understand and begin to deal with these deep questions, I needed to learn about both the historical and cultural context of the region in which Israel exist as well as to learn about the ideas that animate the various domestic and international political forces that make the moral judgments about Israel. During my first year studying in the Philosophy Dept. in Bar Ilan I have had the opportunity to study many of the basic texts of Modern and Ancient Philosophy, as well as to develop my critical reasoning abilities. There are many things I particularly enjoy studying in the department. The classes are intimate with a diverse student body and the teachers are remarkably approachable. Besides for the more general required courses, I have already begun to take my first elective course in Military Ethics, which is exactly the kind of thing I want to focus on. Looking forward to next year!"
